Life at the Highlight

In late August, Champlain Dublin students arrived at their new home, the Highlight Accommodation apartments on Thomas Street. This student living center is located in the heart of not only Dublin, but the historic district of the Liberties! This neighborhood has everything a Champlain student may want, alongside the local goods of Meath Street just down the road. Students are encouraged to shop and interact with the locals in order to make an impact.

Students are divided into their own apartments of either 4, 6, or 8 people. Each person gets their own private room and bathroom. These rooms are luxurious with every amenity a student may need, including a full size mattress, a night light, several storage compartments (including under-bed storage), and a large desk to accommodate studying. Whether a student just got back from Rome, simply wants some down time, or needs to take a quick nap, this is their own private haven!

The common room is the place to be when you want to cook, socialize, or relax. It’s equipped with a double kitchen and a double fridge setup, as well as couches, a dinner table, and a television. This is a great place to host any events or get-togethers, or to chill if you’re looking for a reason to leave the room without leaving the residence. I know that anytime I go to the common room, someone will be there to chit chat.

The Highlight is also equipped with a full personnel of very kind staff, with a front door receptionist and reassuring security. The staff will handle any potential maintenance issues that a student may come across. Highlight hosts events at the residence to ensure that students feel welcomed and included, which harbors a sense of community and encourages students to explore outside of campus. They hold events like “Speed Mating” where students can meet each other from other schools!

Overall, living at the Highlight is an amazing experience. You have your own space, live in a place where everyone is in the same mindset, and nothing is ever too far away.
