Champlain Dublin Students Joined the St. Patrick’s Day Race

Dublin was heaving with activities during Spring break as it coincided with the St. Patrick’s festival. It was perfect weather for a run last Sunday, when Darin, Jordan, and I headed out to the St. Patrick’s Day 5k race starting at the mansion house near Phoenix Park.

We had no idea how big of an event it was going to be before we got there. At the local 5ks we do in Burlington, there are usually a few hundred runners at the start line, but yesterday it took us almost a full minute to make it over the start line because there were 1,500 other runners!

It was a fantastic race—the other runners and the crowd were all supportive and friendly–and it was liberating to be able to run through the streets of downtown Dublin without any fear of getting hit by cars. Our favorite part though, was definitely the goodie bags. Free apples, jelly beans, and chocolate made the tired walk home much more enjoyable.

For anyone interested, there’s a 4 miler coming up n March 27th (with more goodie bags). You can check it out at here. Also, I’ll be going on training runs at 5:30 every Monday and Thursday if you want to join!
