During the last week of February the Association of International Education Administrators held their annual conference in Montreal. The staff at Champlain Abroad in Burlington and Montreal jumped at the chance to put on an event to show off what we do at Champlain Montreal.
Champlainers make up the majority of students who come to the Montreal Program. However, we encourage the participation of young people from other colleges and universities across the United States. Right now, we have one student from St. Michael’s College in Colchester, VT, and another from the University of Massachusetts. It is a wonderful opportunity for our participants to meet new people, and share life-changing experiences.
What better way to increase awareness of our campus than to organize an open house? For many people, seeing the place is really what impresses, and given its situation in one of North America’s most beautiful cities, it’s hard to miss how much of an immersive cultural and academic experience students can have here.
On Monday February 22nd we held a brunch with a delicious spread including smoked salmon, bagels, fruit and a cheese platter. We had a great turn out of representatives from the University of Kentucky, Adolphus College, University of Hawaii at Manoa, Stockton University, University of Richmond, Rutgers University, The American University of Sharjah, The Global Education Network and Western New England University.
Our guests mingled with staff, Montreal faculty, and students before being given an introductory talk from Jim Cross about the Champlain Abroad program. This was then followed by a detailed tour of the Academic Centre, given by Ryan Hipgrave.
We hope that this event marks the beginning productive partnerships with our guests and their representative institutions!
